Elastollan is the brand name for thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) from BASF. It stands for maximum reliability, consistent product quality and cost efficiency. Elastollan can be extruded into hoses, cable sheathing, belts, films and profiles, and can also be processed using blow molding and injection molding technologies.

Elastollan 1170 A is a recyclable grade and offers good elastic recovery with resistance over a wide range of temperatures. Exhibits abrasion-, impact-, wear-, tear and kink-resistance, oil- and grease- resistance and excellent resistance to hydrolysis and microbiological attack. Elastollan 1170 A Provides good flexibility at low temperatures, high tensile strength, elasticity and good damping behavior. Is processed by injection molding and extrusion. Applications include cable sheathing and jacketing, plugs and terminations, spiral tubing, ski-boot shells, ear tags, technical moldings, e.g. mining screens, railway pads, seals.

Automotive body and panels and structural door trim parts, under body sealants, technical mouldings e.g. plugs, ski tips.

Properties:
Elastollan can be thermoplastically processed and has a partially crystalline structure with a high degree of crystallization. It is produced by the copolymerization of trioxan and another monomer. It consists of linear chains in which the co-monomers are firmly incorporated in a statistically distributed manner.
